Until then, use the MX330 since it is identical. In any case, I have added the MX320 to the gutenprint code, so it will be directly available in the next release. The MX360 driver should not be used for the MX320, there are quite some differences. I analysed the MX320 printjobs from Windows, and it turns out to be exactly the same as the MX330, which is supported already. I'll post back in a couple of days with feedback about the MX320.

In this case it sounds like the MX320 will be something with the capabilities of either a MX300/MX310 or MX330, but with XML header added to the printjobs. The differences in a series could be merely in media (paper type) support, or fairly major like having XML in the header (newer generation). So while you say the MX360 driver works, I am guessing that the MX340 or MX370 "nearby" drivers could work too (although they might not be in your system's gutenprint if it is a bit old). I'l analyse its printjobs in the next 1-2 days from Windows XP and add it to the development code of gutenprint, so that you'll have it in the next stable release.įrom a driver point of view the following distinctions are made: I did not notice the MX320 device, it is the only one of the MX series I seem to have missed, at least comparing with devices on the US Canon site. I'm the maintainer of the gutenprint Canon backend, that is the "CUPS driver" you are seeing for the MX360. OP and Bulkley: thanks for mentioning this device. The terminal took over and installed everything, asked a couple of questions and the printer works. I typed "dir" to list the files in that directory, it listed a file install.sh I have the feeling that this is a gnome problem or that i'm using the wrong shell. (beside run a futile search on google for "bash: make: command not found") I couldn't continue on with the installation. I downloaded and installed gcc and g++ using synaptic package manager.

To overcome this problem where synaptic package manager doesn't want to install 32 bit drivers, you have to use the source code and build your own.įor the pixma mx320, i found the source code here: You can figure out what type of operating system you have using:

#Canon mx320 printer driver 64 Bit#
It doesn't work because you may have a 64 bit operating system, and the pixma drivers are 32 bit. e=download is the source code, if that fails. It looks like the driver should be available with cups-plug it in and try adding a printer!

I have a feeling it's because the package is for 32 bit, and i'm using 64 bit operating system. īut it isn't install, options are greyed out. I'm trying to install my printer using synaptic package manager, so i downloaded
